ABOUT MATT GREEN
A People-Centered Approach to the Condition of Addiction
Matt is a faculty instructor in Clinical Psychiatry at the Chan Graduate School of Nursing, University of Massachusetts Medical School.
With 45 Years of clinical experience treating patients with both addiction and other mental health disorders, Matt Green has treated individuals and families by helping them navigate the world of the addict and how that world impacts both physical and mental health. He calls it ‘the condition of addiction’ for a reason. In his work, he treats the patient who has a condition they cannot manage, not the addict with an addiction. Matt will tell anyone who listens that his practice is people-centered, not addict-centered, like some other groups may be.

As Matt continues to develop his clinical skills, his mission remains the same: to treat and educate everyone he talks to about the condition of addiction and its related effects.

Matt lives in Boston with the love of his life, Sue. He has three children and seven grandchildren. He likes to mention that his children, and now his grandchildren, have always been curious about what he does, asking questions and wondering how they, too, can help. Sometimes, that makes it feel like a family business to him. Of which he is very proud.
